Postby Eilif » Wed Jun 05, 2024 2:21 pm

This topic is for recording the 2024 CSW Mordheim Campaign.
Specifically:
-Win Loss Reports
-Battle results/writeups/reports and pictures for us and for potential blog posts
-Updated warband lists after each game night.
-I'll update this first post periodically with Rules, Links and useful Campaign materials.

Discussions and all other content will be deleted as I'd like this thread to be for folks to be able to easily follow the flow of the campaign in one place.

For other campaign discussion, ideas, scenarios, modeling progress, etc, please use the main Mordheim Campaign topic here...

Just put the finishing touches (i.e. names and rolling for spells) on my list. I present the Lurkers of Leechhead:

Great gaming last night gents!

The Lurkers of Leechhead had a smashing 1st game against Mike's Possessed. Magister Slinsiod Krell was determined not to let a rival magister gain the favor of the Shadowlord!

Michael Says My warband is ‘The Debauched Ones’, a Cult of the Possessed.
They are from my Slaanesh army, the Debauched Ones, led by Samira. Samira has sent Ishtar, one of her sorceresses (counts as the Magister), to lead a warband in Mordheim for acquiring Warpstone.

We rolled up wyrdstone hunt with 4 shards. It came down to the wire. I had 2 shards to Mike's 1. I had taken two of Mike's 5 warriors out of action. But J'gog'th'zoz, carrying a shard, was stunned at the feet of an enemy mutant--sure to be put out of action and to allow the wyrdstone to fall into enemy hands--when Mike failed his rally test and his warband fled into the shadowed streets.

The mutant Gorish Knuckle got his first advance and was sent into the crater at the center of Mordheim to seek the gifts of the shadowlord and was granted.....a new Mutation! He is now HIDEOUS and therefore causes fear.

The beastman Bish Splaytooth also got his first advance (he put one of the enemy mutants out of action) and rolled Lad's Got Talent! He became a hero with access to the Combat and Speed skill lists, and rolled an extra attack for his advance.

I rolled well on exploration, gaining 5 more wyrdstone and a couple crowns from some hovels. I sold all 7 stones for 120 crowns, leaving me with 124 crowns total.

4 out of my 5 heroes were able to locate rare items (rolls: 10, 9, 9, 7), which I used to buy:
  • a "Wardog", i.e. Kuridax, the daemonic sphynx familiar (33gc)
  • an Ithilmar sword (30gc)
  • some Black Lotus (12gc)
  • and a Luck Charm (10gc)

I spent my remaining coin on swords for my beastmen, a staff and buckler for Magister Krell, a shield for the mutant Leonid Skree, and an axe for Gorish Knuckle, leaving a single crown in the coffer.

With that, the Lurkers are ready to spill more blood in the Shadowlord's name! Can't wait!

Tim's_________ warband and my Black Crown Sam Flat Akafligast (Akaf) had a chance encounter at the ruins around the Dragon Shrine. ( Mission ______&&)

Thinking they had caught their enemies by surprise, the Akaf charged in. However the _______ were no easy prey. Despite the quick loss of their hired sorcerer, their Alpha Wolf and Warrior were quick to step in and deal violence. They made short work of an Akaf wolf and Berserker and when they took down the Wulfen the Akaf fled the field.

Traveling through Mordheim, Count Duchain and his minions heard a scrabble between the vermin and those harlots of the Chruch of Sigmar. Finding an opportune moment to feed his minions, he sent forth his Dire Wolves into the fray and attacked the stragglers of the melee before they had a chance to escape. They scurried back into the depths of the city.

===

After the battle, the necromancer had a chance encounter with a Hochland gunsmith and learned a new spell: gun.

===

OOC: Rolled 1,1,1,1,5 on my wyrdstone, and a 6 at the gunsmith.

Also, Charlies Skaven pulled a Hawkeye and pinged three of my heroes with a slung rock, which was my favorite moment. :)

Here's my warband -- now named "The Scratching Abominations" -- after the first game:

I'm saving my gold, largely because I'm not sure whether it's better to buy better gear or more cannon fodder ... I mean, soldiers.

An account of my game against Charlie, as told by Magister Slinsiod Krell:

Lurkers Group Shot.jpg

"The Shadowlord whispered to me of the Auld Temple Quarter and its many ruins rich with wyrdstone. But no sooner had we arrived at the edge of the district than faithful KURIDAX, my sweet and loyal daemon sphynx scented RATS. And lo! No sooner scented than sighted, scurrying after our trail. The vermin were going to try to BREAK THROUGH to our promised hunting ground. We would have to stop them here, at the river.

Krell and Skree.jpg

The rats swarmed over the bridges, and more plunged into the befouled river. We hid on our side and bid our time, but I sent Kuridax and J'Gog'th'zoz, who are fleet, through the river to surprise the skaven on their flank. The rats saw them coming and flung their stones, but to no avail. On the south bridge, Splaytooth and Gorish Knuckle held their advance while Kuridax and J'Gog'th'zoz encircled them. The fighting there was brief, and spiteful. Gorish fell to one of the rats' heroic efforts, but that rat was in turn felled by Splaytooth. In their screams I heard the Shadowlord's mirth.
Rout at the Bridge.jpg

On the north bridge came the skaven leader and his pet sorcerer. Z'beel'z'brz and Bosh Monocula held them back--but out of the riverwater came a clutch of rats with spears, nearly overwhelming them.

Flank through the River.jpg

The Shadowlord, however, was generous, and granted them strength. They fought clear long enough for Leonid Skree to land a killing blow with his barbéd and venomous tail. Seeing their many fallen comrades, the cowardly vermin scattered and left us to our hunting.
Skree Stands Alone.jpg

All but one. J'Gog'th'zoz brought to me bound the 'hero' who had wounded Gorish Knuckle. The lad will be fine, a mere scrape, but even so that would not do. I had the beastmen bind him to my black altar and I filled its runnels with his blood as my followers looked on in joy and wonder.

It was here that I felt doubt enter my mind, for I did not feel the Shadowlord's approbation at this sacrifice. I fear He may have desired to feast on this rat himself. I sent Knuckle and Skree into the crater to seek His favor, but they returned with nothing...I was furious, ready to believe the Shadowlord had abandoned me. That is until, during our hunt, we heard a snuffling and snarling out of the dark. And there emerged, by His Grace there can be no doubt, two foul creatures of divine beauty--bat wingéd, six-leggéd, sharp and bloody of beak and claw. It seems sweet Kuridax shall have siblings, and I a menagerie of adorable pets. I think I shall call them...SKITTER and SLAKE"
Skitter and Slake.jpg

OOC: We rolled breakthrough and I chose to defend since my warband rating was slightly lower. Charlie got unlucky with his hit rolls and I was able to get off a few decisive charges, resulting in a voluntary rout. It was a great game, and with one or two different dice rolls could have ended with me routing instead, since I was at a numbers disadvantage.

I took one of Charlie's heroes captive and sacrificed him to the Shadowlord to give my leader an extra XP. I then used that to roll an advance in the hopes of getting a new spell, rather than send Magister Krell to gain the favor of the Shadowlord, and it didn't pay off. Krell got +Ld, but both my mutants rolled "nothing happens" on their gift of the shadowlord rolls, and I'm sure that's the Shadowlord's vengeance for my cowardice with Krell. That's what I get for not submitting myself entirely to Chaos. I've learned my lesson.

Other advances include J'Gog'th'zoz gaining RESLILIENT, Z'beel'z'brz gaining +1 WS, and Bosh Monocula gaining +1 BS. Gorish Knuckle rolled a full recovery on the injury table.

During exploration, we found a fletcher (triple 4) and gained 3 bows (which I gave to my magister and each beastman) and 4 Wyrdstone (total roll of 22). I sold those for 70 crowns and, thanks to some good rare item rolls, purchased two more wardogs (to be represented by the Stirges Skitter and Slake) and a luck charm for Gorish.

Here is the updated roster:

Game night 2
Karl Vs James.
Winner: Karl.

The Afligast Norse met Count Duchain in the ruined old quarter sparring over a particular building where Wyrdstone seemed to be present.

Loses were high on both sides but after a few Norsemen leapt madly into the fray from upper levels, the tide turned and the undead withdrew.

Luck was with the Norse as nearly all their wounded recovered and one young Marauder advanced as a Hero. However, though a well stocked brewery was discovered, the celebrating warriors drank down nearly all the brew leaving only a couple casks to sell.

James, feel free to add any info you wish.
