Summer "Tales of Blades and Heroes" Campaign Planning.

Postby Eilif » Fri May 20, 2016 1:07 pm

Hey Folks,
Just thought I'd open up a specific thread fordiscussion of the summer campaign which will be based around the "Tales of Blades and Heroes" rules. I'm putting this in the public forum for others to see and hopefully be enticed to sign up and join in.

So far the only things have discussed are that:
-TBH is a RPG'lite system which should allow each player to control 2 advancing characters in a cooperative campaign.
-Though RPG'ish this is still a miniatures skirmish system and is based on Song of Blades and Heroes.
-Jon has interest in running some or all of the campaign nights.
-Josh and Jon will be doing most of the hosting.
-Jon has suggested each of us providing lists of what monsters or other NPC's we have painted up.

What do you all think regarding the campaign, start dates, etc..?

At this point I'll just say that I'm looking forward to making some great layouts. Being a cooperative game means we can concentrate on making one great unified setting for each nights gaming off the top of my head, we've got equipment for some of the following environments:
-Traditional Fantasy Town (Karl)
-Greco/Spanish themed town (Josh)
-Graveyard (Josh)
-Burrow Village (Karl, courtesy of Mattias)
-Walled Village (Club/Josh Mage Knight castle)
-Dungeion (Tim)
-Jungle (Tim)
-Woods (various members)
-Desert (Karl or Josh)
-Ruins. (Karl and others)
-Waterfront (Karl, Jon)
I'm sure there are others I've forgotten. All this to say, this campaign could make fantastic use of the great terrain we've collected over the years. I'm more than happy to bring terrain on whatever evenings it is needed.
I'll definitely commit to bringing terrain whenever needed.

Karl, thanks for getting the thread started. If you have interest in joining, please post here and let us know so we can plan for the scenarios. As mentioned, if you will be joining, please send me a list of painted monster/NPC models that you have available for campaign use.

I will put a June 16th start date for the campaign out there for the group to say yay or nay. I am not yet sure if I will be making the June 2nd game night, so cannot commit to that evening as the start.

The 16th sounds good to me.
So far my list of RPG useful painted figs is something like this:
-Medium sized Dragon
-7 Celtic Fae Warriors
-6 Werewolves
-A variety of regular animals. 2 Bears, Wolverine, Cougar, Fox, Boar, etc..
-A variety of sentient animals including , Echidna, Highlander dog, Rabbit, Squirrel Archer, Palatypus Mage, Leopard
-Lots of misc Armored Chaos Warriors
-Forest Giant
-Half Giant man
-Half Ogre
-Evil Mage
-10 or so varried Wood Elves. Mostly archers and swordsmen
-Large GW Flying Lady of the forest
-Satyr
-GW Wood elf Giant Satyr character thing. Orion?
-Lady in waiting
-2 Dueling Swordsmen
-Romeo type civilian calling upward
-Noble Lady
-Arab Caravan. 3 cargo Camels, 3 camel boys, 2 outriders on lizards, 2 outriders on camels, a couple of merchants and a few warriors.

I'm also finishing up a batch of religious looking fantasy questing characters. Some monks, a priest, a few paladins, a couple of pilgrims etc.

I'll add more if I think of them, but those are the figures that would probably be most useful for an RPG'ish campaign.

So, if we are running TBH characters cooperatively, do we want the adventurers to be cohesive in some way? I'd assume that the broad realm of humanoid fantasy heroes would be best.

Broad fantasy works best, but I am open to some variation, so if you have something specific that you want to run, just let me know. Feel free to design your starting character using the base character design specs in the book. If you do not have it and need some guidelines, we can roll you up on the first night, or earlier in the week of the 16th. I'll be open every night that week to assist.

Anyone else planning to join that I do not have on the list?

Nevermind Tim. Josh pointed me to your models post.

I'll be posting up what is needed for the first scenario tonight or tomorrow.
