Hey Folks,
Just wanted to open up a conversation about Konflikt '47. Now that all the WW2 kits have been distributed, I've got a few suggestions and questions for you all.
My suggestions are as follows.
-Let's play as a campaign. Not a complicated thing nor for hardcore competition Rather, just a fun way to put a nice little narrative over our games. Probably a simple mission tree and Axis Vs Allies win tally. I really like the idea of Axis Vs Allies as every battle then counts evenly against the total and some players may even like to try their hand at both throughout the campaign.
-Let's keep it short. Maximum 4 campaign sessions dedicated to K47. Our campaigns seem to start to falter when we go to long and if folks have an abiding interest in the game they can always carry on afterwards.
-Start the Campaign as soon as we start playing the game. Let's not bother with sessions learning the rules as that has seemed in the past to start the ticker early on folks attention span for a given system. I really wish we'd started the KoW Campaign earlier rather than playing a bunch of learning games first.
As well as feedback on those, here's my questions for you all.
1) What's your approximate timelines for having a playable 1000 point (the minimum necessary it seems) force and then a 1500+ point (a point value that seems more interesting) force?
2) What Army or Armies do you have?
3) Are you interested in the game but need an army? (I've got an extra force and others might also.)
4) What are your feelings on whether we need to use the Two Supplements "Resurgence" and "Defiance"? The rulebook seems pretty comprehensive and all the expanded forces seem to be on the free unit builder, but if those with the expansions think they're necessary I'd be curious to hear more.
Open to any other ideas, suggestions or questions...

This all sounds fine to me, if we actually have playable Axis forces in the club. It seems like a few people are building them, so that's cool.
I have Soviets that i can probably field 1500 right now. I have not made army lists for them in a while, but i think that;s what we played before. I'm planning to start assembly on Americans when it is warm enough to open a window and play with plastic cement.
I don;t have the expansions. I have not really looked into them.

Love those suggestions. Here are my answers to the questionnaire:
1. I would need realistically at least a month of painting to get my Quar table-ready, but I think it's doable if I use some shortcuts.
2. I'd have to look back through the rules to be sure, but I remember judging that the British would be the best 'Counts-as' force for Quar. I'm sure I could fit some other factions though with some creativity.
3. Nope, this will be a great opportunity to finally paint these suckers.
4. I'm not really interested in buying more supplements for this game, personally, so I'll probably just stick to the core rules. Totally fine if others want to use the expansions though.

Re: Konflikt '47 Let's Plan.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the input.
The good thing about a Soviet force is that it could be aligned with axis or allies depending on how we re-interpret history.
Quar world probably be best represented by the British army list, but who knows what side those shifty anteaters will side with...
Maybe May would be a good start month? Give us 2 solid months to work on our forces.
Unless someone comes up with some compelling arguments, I'm also fine with sticking with the core book for rules, likely with army lists supplemented by the online force builder.

Re: Konflikt '47 Let's Plan.
Hi all,
Campaign ideas are good. I enjoy the narrative aspect.
Short campaign is also good
Getting into the campaign with the first games works for me.
1. I can start right now with a 1,000 and / or 1,500 point force
2. I have a German army for 1,000 or 1,500 points. I am currently working on a 1,000 point U.S. allied force. It has some British troops which will count as U.S. troops.
3. As listed I have an army to use.
4. I am good with just using the basic rule book. If people want to include material from the supplements I am fine with that too.

Re: Konflikt '47 Let's Plan.
just a quick note- Our previous games of K47 were played at 750 points. Just as a frame of reference. 1000 is a really good size. 1500 may make for a much longer game... If you're going to do 1500, maybe set some limits, like max number of units, or something like that...
I think that was one of my favorite games that we played. I hope you all have a great time with it!

Thanks Michael,
Looking forward to seeing your forces in action.
Thanks for the perspective Josh.
Good to know that 1k is a good size. Do you think that larger points would be easier to play if those points were dumped into big warmachines rather than infantry units?

Re: Konflikt '47 Let's Plan.
I think that the game can get bogged down when you are using many smaller units. The less dice in the bag, the faster a turn will go. But try to keep it somewhat balanced... If you have your points in 3 big tanks, and the opponent has 12 troop units, it will be a boring game for you as you sit around waiting for a chance to do anything.
My suggestion for higher points is to spend some those points on the big fun models- mechs and vehicles. There are so many great options in K47 for this. Don't be afraid to upgrade your units too with the various cool options!
One thing that might be fun is to theme your lists based on the terrain they will be fighting on, or something like that... Example- if you're fighting in a crowded urban area, maybe bring lots of jump troops and mechs... Just like SOBH, thematic warbands are the most fun here. If you want to play a straight troop battle, skip K47 and just play bolt action!

I will also add that the best K47 game we played (in my opinion) was when I set up a huge board, and we played 2 totally separate games on each side that ended up crossing into each other as the game progressed:

Re: Konflikt '47 Let's Plan.
I just did a count and I have about 48 mans and a couple of vehicles to paint to be ready for the campaign, so May sounds good to me. Still a challenge, but also a good opportunity to refine some speed painting techniques with oil paints!
I do have 2 10-man squads finished already.
This is kind of exciting! I haven't attempted to actually paint an entire army since I was in high school
