Back again with a few days' work.

First up is an old metal GW Kroxigor.

Next is a Reaper Bones Marsh Troll.

These look great! A marked improvement in skill over the lizardmen you painted several years ago when you started, what techniques are you using to get the gradation of colors, especially on the trolls' back plates?

Thanks Tim! I enjoy looking back at my first painted minis and seeing the changes over time.

For the Troll's back plates I added white to the base dark blue to make lighter tints and just applied it leaving a part of each layer visible as I worked my way up.

For the Kroxigor I used a lightened red-violet to highlight the scales. This was over an initial violet ink washed over a gray basecoat.

Never heard of a Kroxigor, but I love it.

Very cool fig with a very nice paintjob.

Nice job! I really dig the old GW Kroxigors and Trolls. They had a cartooney character to them, which went well with the fluff at the time. When I came back to the hobby after a 10ish year hiatus, I bought a used lizardman army on ebay and the kroxigor in it was one of the first things I tried to paint.
