OK, so we all know how squishy the word "soon" can be when it comes to release dates for anything. But, I'm still excited.
It doesn't look like there are many big changes. The main rule changes seem to be terminology changes, mostly to create consistency between the SF and fantasy lines -- things like using "Caster" instead of "Psychic" or "Wizard", or "Shaken" instead of "Pinned" and "Wavering."
People on the discord have been talking about a lot of point-cost changes in the army lists, but I don't really know enough to say much about those. (Like that usually stops me... )
I've spent some time recently getting my resin printer in shape, and finally learning how to use it, so it's probably about time for me to start printing an army. I'm thinking about a Robot Legions army to start with.
One Page Rules 3.0 is almost here!

Woah, how did I miss this? Thanks for the heads up.
Might have to sign up for the Patreon when it hits to get the new full rulebooks. I'm expecting it will be all good as previous changes have all been positive as far as I've seen.
Awesome that you've got a resin printer. Feel free to post some pics of your prints. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

Hi all,
I am glad OPR is not making big changes, like G.W. does, to the rules. It appears that some of the changes are just in terminology. I like the current rules and do not see much of a need to just change them for change sake. It does appear that there will be new rules for creating new army lists which sounds great. With OPR agnostic miniatures design this should allow you to create some individualistic forces.

Re: One Page Rules 3.0 is almost here!
I've actually been reading the early-access 3.0 rules, thanks to being a patron. The only real difference I'm seeing is some extra constraints on list composition; things like "at most 1 unit per N points" and "no single unit can cost more than 35% of the total force cost." Other than that, it really still feels like the same game.
And if the chatter on Discord can believed, they're aiming for an early September release. Just trying to finish up the updates to Army Forge.

Thanks for the update. That seems like about what I expected.
Previous updates -even going back to when it was called "One Page 40k"- have generally been a matter of refinement rather than change of mechanics. This appears to be more of the same and I think that's a good thing.

Re: One Page Rules 3.0 is almost here!
When I first started reading the 3.0 rules, I thought there were a lot more changes than there are. But then I realized that they had combined everything into a single document. So, I'd actually gotten to the chapters about all the optional rules you can add in. Since I hadn't ever read the "advanced" versions of the 2.x rules, I'd never seen them before.

And now, they're out! I feel really sorry for the guy who writes the rules, and the guy who builds the Army Forge program. They're both being absolutely pummeled by bug reports and (occasionally valid) complaints about the changes.
I don't have enough experience with the the army lists (old or new) to have any opinion on the points changes. However, they did clarify the rule that caused me so much confusion in our last game. In the previous version, the "Blast(X)" rule said, "...can't deal more than one hit per model." The new rule says, "...can't deal more hits than models in the target unit."
So, in the last game, where I got 1 Blast(3) hit on a 3-model unit with Tough(3), we decided that each model got hit with one wound because of that "one hit per model" wording, despite Tough(X) saying that you have to fully kill one model before wounding the next. The new rules make it clear that it would have been just three hits, to be apportioned as usual. All three of those hits would have gone to one model, and taken it out.
For September, they're doing a 50% off sale -- 70% for Tier-2 patrons! -- so I'm probably going to buy the Robot Legions army packs and start printing.

Good news and that's a good clarification.
I'll give it a bit for the bugs to work out before I try it, but I'm definitely looking forward to it. Will probably become a patron again for the new full rules.

Yeah, I've got a few things I should really paint first before I start adding to the Gray Pile of Shame. That'll give them time to shake out the bugs.
